Some weddings feel like a grand adventure. Others feel like coming home, and Aimee and Luke’s day was firmly the second kind. On a Saturday in late August, they married in the village church Aimee had loved since childhood. Afterwards, they celebrated next door to the house she grew up in. As a result, their Ark at Egwood wedding felt relaxed, personal and full of family from start to finish. We were honoured to capture it all on film.
The Story Behind Aimee and Luke’s Ark at Egwood Wedding

Every love story has a beginning, but this one comes with a cheeky twist. Back at school, Aimee was best friends with Luke’s girlfriend at the time. “Woops!” as Aimee puts it. Years later, that relationship had long since ended. The pair found each other again, and their romance simply blossomed from there.
Today, Aimee and Luke share a busy, happy home with their children. Their family sits at the very centre of everything they do. So, naturally, the proposal included the whole crew.
A Santorini Proposal and the Road to an Ark at Egwood Wedding

Luke proposed on a family holiday in Santorini. The island looked absolutely stunning, with whitewashed walls and endless blue views. Meanwhile, their daughter sat strapped into a carrier, happily munching Pom-Bears throughout. “So romantic,” Aimee laughs. Honestly, we think it sounds perfect. It was real, a little chaotic and completely them.
From there, the couple gave themselves well over a year to plan. That extra time clearly paid off. Every detail of the day felt considered, yet nothing ever felt forced.
Natural Greens, Soft Florals and Chandeliers

For their styling, Aimee and Luke chose a natural palette of greens and whites. Lush foliage and soft florals filled the spaces. Above it all, sparkling chandeliers added a touch of romance. The overall feel was gentle, airy and timeless.
Style & Wonder brought this vision to life with both the flowers and the decorations. Inside the marquee, the chandeliers glowed warmly against all that greenery. Consequently, the evening light looked beautiful on camera.
A Ceremony at St George’s Church, Hinton St George

The ceremony took place at 1pm in St George’s Church in Hinton St George. Aimee had fallen in love with this church as a young girl. Therefore, walking down its aisle meant more to her than we can describe.
Before the ceremony, Aimee shared a first look with her bridesmaids and her dad, Mark. Moments like these are some of our favourites to film. The reactions are always honest, and there is rarely a dry eye in the room.
Later, Aimee walked towards two very special people waiting at the end of the aisle. Luke stood ready, and their son Jackson stood proudly beside him as ring boy and mini best man. Aimee told us beforehand that this sight would choke her up. It was a moment we knew we had to capture perfectly.
Alongside Jackson, Luke had Sam, Toby and Dan as his best men. Meanwhile, Aimee’s sister Ellie stood by her side as maid of honour. Nokie, Marie and Jodie completed the bridal party, with little Harper as flower girl.
Treasure Chests, Speeches and a Packed Dancefloor

After the ceremony, everyone headed up the hill to The Ark at Egwood for the celebrations. The atmosphere instantly felt like a family garden party, only far more beautiful.
Between the main course and dessert, the couple added a playful surprise. Each guest tried their key in a locked treasure chest. However, Luke had no idea that the winning key was in his own pocket. Watching the room realise the truth made for a brilliant moment on film.
As evening arrived, the speeches began. Aimee’s dad Mark spoke first, followed by Luke, best man Sam and maid of honour Ellie. Their words brought plenty of laughter and a few happy tears. Then, around 7:30pm, Aimee and Luke took to the floor for their first dance. Afterwards, DJ Kieran Clarke kept the party going late into the night.
Why The Ark at Egwood Was the Perfect Choice

For Aimee, choosing the venue was easy. The Ark at Egwood sits right beside her childhood home in Merriott. In other words, she was quite literally celebrating on her own doorstep.
This Somerset wedding venue offers a lovely sense of space and privacy. Rolling countryside surrounds the site, which gives a relaxed, rural feel. Furthermore, the short drive from Hinton St George kept the day flowing with ease. Guests moved from church to celebration without any stress at all.
From a filmmaking point of view, an Ark at Egwood wedding is a joy to capture. The open grounds gave us room to capture natural moments without ever getting in the way. Inside the marquee, the chandeliers created soft, flattering light for the speeches and first dance. Most importantly, the venue felt personal. That sense of home shows in every frame of the finished film.
Our Perspective as Somerset Wedding Videographers

As a Somerset wedding videographer and filmmaker team, we love weddings that put family first. Aimee and Luke told us exactly what they hoped to smile at in ten years’ time. They wanted fun, party vibes and pure happiness. Above all, they wanted their children and family at the heart of it.
That guidance shaped how we filmed the whole day. Rather than directing anyone, we stayed calm and discreet in the background. This documentary approach let the real moments unfold naturally. We also recorded every speech with professional audio, so each word comes through clearly. Years from now, they will hear every voice exactly as it sounded on the day.
Ultimately, a wedding film should feel like your day, not a production. For Aimee and Luke, that meant joy, laughter and a whole lot of love.
Aimee and Luke’s Top Tips for Couples

Aimee kindly shared two honest tips for couples planning their own big day.
First, think carefully about friendships before choosing your bridesmaids. “Weddings make people go strange,” she laughs.
Secondly, give yourself plenty of time. Aimee and Luke planned for more than a year, and they highly recommend it. A longer runway means less stress and more time to enjoy the build-up.
