Jade & Paul’s Wildflower Wedding: Rustic Somerset Day at Old Oak Farm

Jade Chidgey and Paul Lang’s journey began online, as many modern love stories do. What made theirs unique was the number of mutual friends they discovered, making it even more surprising that their paths hadn’t crossed sooner. Their first date was a scenic walk through Shapwick Nature Reserve, where, according to Jade, Paul may have bonded with their dog Tink before falling for her.

Fast-forward to 7th August 2023, and the proposal took place in a hot air balloon above Glastonbury Tor. Floating high above the Somerset landscape, surrounded by blue skies and peaceful silence, their engagement set the tone for a wedding day filled with beauty, intention, and a love grounded in nature.

A Venue That Felt Like Home: Old Oak Farm

Choosing Old Oak Farm in Curry Rivel was an easy decision for Jade and Paul. Its rustic feel, relaxed atmosphere, and countryside views matched their personalities and wedding vision perfectly. With its timber-framed barns and natural surroundings, the venue became an ideal setting for their wildflower-themed celebration.

Both Jade and Paul got ready on-site at Old Oak Farm, adding a sense of calm and connection to the morning. Jade’s first look with her father and their two-year-old son was deeply emotional, setting the tone for the day. Meanwhile, Paul spent the morning surrounded by his groomsmen, adding to the close-knit, family-oriented vibe.

A Ceremony of Joy and Meaning

At 1pm, Jade and Paul exchanged vows in a dreamy ceremony with 120 close family members and friends. The floral arrangements from The Willow Blossom Florist transformed the space into a vibrant meadow of wildflowers.

There was laughter. There were tears. Most of all, there was love, shared openly among the couple and guests.

After the ceremony, the reception continued with just as much heart and joy. At 5pm, Paul and his two best men, Harry and Sam, gave heartfelt speeches to the crowd. Golden-hour light streamed in as The Vanquish played music that lifted everyone’s spirits.
In the evening, 80 more guests arrived. The party truly came alive at Old Oak Farm.
