As a Somerset wedding videographer, I get to capture so many unforgettable love stories. But few are quite as enchanting as Kellie and Paul’s wedding at Holbrook Manor and Spa. Held in December, their day was full of warmth, family, soft candlelight, and pure joy — a perfect blend of elegance and heart.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a romantic Christmas wedding in the South West, this one is for you.

How It All Began

Kellie and Paul’s story began in 2016. Like many modern couples, they matched online. Their first date was at The Boathouse in Bath — though it didn’t start perfectly. Kellie was late. Paul’s shirt was untucked. He seemed scruffy. But within minutes, his charm, wit, and corny jokes had her smiling. The connection was instant. Laughter sealed the deal.

The two have since travelled the world together and shared countless weekends away. Their relationship is built on fun, adventure, and deep friendship.

A Perfect Proposal in Vienna

Paul planned a stunning proposal in Vienna in December 2018. Snow blanketed the city. Christmas lights twinkled across the markets. And after searching for just the right moment, Paul found it.

He waited for the perfect horse-drawn carriage — two white horses only, no black ones. In that frosty fairy-tale scene, he knelt in the carriage and asked Kellie to be his wife. He told her she was his best friend, the love of his life. And when he opened the box, the ruby and diamond ring took her breath away.

Of course, she said yes.

Holbrook Manor ticked every box for them. Set in the Somerset countryside, it offered the privacy and beauty they wanted. The wedding at Holbrook Manor and Spa allowed their big family to come together — something that rarely happens.

Kellie and Paul wanted a day that felt like Christmas without being over the top. Their vision? Soft lights, candles, open fires, elegance, and laughter. A family celebration full of dancing, warmth, and love.

And that’s exactly what they created.

Grandkids, Confetti Cannons & Sparkler Magic

One of the highlights? The grandchildren. There were lots of them, and they were incredibly excited to be part of the celebration. Whether dancing on the floor or helping with the big entrance, they brought smiles all around.

Kellie had a few surprises up her sleeve too.

  • Confetti cannons exploded during their first dance.
  • Sparklers lit up the night for stunning outdoor shots.
  • And the DJ, Shadow Monkeys, kept the energy high well into the evening.

As a South West wedding videographer, it’s rare to see such genuine togetherness. This wasn’t just a wedding — it was a reunion, a celebration, and a memory that no one will forget.

A Style to Remember

The entire wedding had a clear, classic style. Think understated luxury. No tacky decorations or flashy extras. Just warmth, elegance, and thoughtful details.

Candles lit every corner. Fires crackled in the background. Guests relaxed with drinks in hand, laughing and catching up. The music, the speeches, and the mood felt just right.

Kellie and Paul didn’t just create a wedding. They created an atmosphere.

Their wedding at Holbrook Manor and Spa wasn’t about trends. It was about feelings. That’s what made it so unforgettable.

  • Photographer: Brad Wakefield – captured every emotional beat.
  • Hair and Makeup: Jess Dycer (hair) and Sammy England (makeup) – flawless work that lasted all day.

And of course, I was honoured to capture it all on film — from the quiet early moments to the final song.

Advice from the Bride

Kellie shared some brilliant advice for future couples:

“Be organised and delegate. Once you’ve done what you can, the rest is in God’s hands. Have lists, confirm everything, and then let go. Enjoy it — time flies. This is your moment. Remember it fully, forever.”

Wise words that sum up their wedding perfectly.
